Objective

The Agriculture Division is entrusted with formulating and reviewing agricultural policies, as well as preparing comprehensive medium and long-term plans to make the agricultural sector more competitive. In addition, this Division is also responsible for providing policy direction for the modernization and development of a sustainable agricultural sector. In this regard, focus is given to promoting high-value agricultural activities and other activities along the value chain. The Division aims to develop the agricultural sector to capitalize on market opportunities and enhance the sector's capacity to address current related issues.

Main Functions

  • Review existing policies and formulate new policies and strategies for the medium and long-term development of the agricultural sector and agro-based industries to increase their contribution to the economy through higher value chains;
  • Analyze current issues and upcoming trends related to the agricultural sector and conduct studies to identify new approaches to enhance innovation within the sector;
  • Provide allocations for agricultural programs and projects and assess their progress and implementation achievements; and
  • Implement, coordinate, and monitor studies on the development of the agricultural sector and agro-based industries.

  • To plan the development of the agricultural sector and agro-based industries proactively, professionally, and effectively;
  • To prepare the Five-Year Development Plan (RPLT) within the specified period professionally, efficiently, and effectively;
  • To evaluate, coordinate, and approve the allocation of development funds for programs and projects under the agricultural sector and agro-based industries based on the scheduled preparation of the RPLT document and in alignment with the government's national-level outcome achievements;
  • To analyze and assess proposals for new projects and provide change notices related to amendments in allocation ceilings within seven working days after receiving complete information from the Ministry;
  • To assist the Ministry of Finance in reviewing the annual budget for approved development programs and projects under the RPLT according to the established schedule;
  • To provide comments on the Cabinet Memorandum within two weeks of receipt;
  • To provide feedback on inquiries related to the development of the agricultural sector professionally and resolve related issues within three days; and
  • To provide comments and views on agricultural project proposals from companies/consortia to the UPE management and inform the applicant of the decision within one month after the proposal paper or report is received.
