Based on Service Circular Number 6 of 2013, the Integrity Unit is responsible for performing six (6) core functions as follows:
Integrity Unit Functions
- Governance
Ensuring the best governance is implemented; - Strengthening Integrity
To instill, institutionalize and cultivate integrity in the organization; - Detection and Verification
- Detecting and confirming complaints of misconduct as well as violations of the code of conduct and ensuring that appropriate follow-up actions are taken; and
- Reporting criminal behavior to the responsible enforcement agency;
- Complaint Management
Receive and manage all complaints about misconduct and violations of the code of conduct in the organization; - Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and - Discipline
Perform secretarial functions of the Disciplinary Board
- Detect and take action on any complaints of misconduct as well as violations of the code of conduct and ethics within one (1) month from the date the initial report is received.
- Normal disciplinary cases are resolved within four (4) months from the date of the case prima facie
- The information and identity of the whistleblower will be kept confidential in accordance with applicable law.
