Background
- The Public Safety and Security Division (BKKA) was established on June 26, 2007, in line with the rebranding decision of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).
- Authority:
- General Circular on the Preparation of the Ninth Malaysia Plan.
- Cabinet instructions for the implementation of certain projects (from time to time).
- General Circular No. 2 of 1990. Small Committee on Standards and Costs for the National Development Planning Committee (JPPN).
- Development Fund Act 1996; and
- Circulations and Treasury Letters and Administrative Directives.
Objectives
- To plan and formulate strategies, policies, programs, and projects for the development of the security sector and the general administration sector.
- To review and provide development allocations for programs/projects in the security sector and general administration sector within the Malaysia Plan period.
- To monitor progress and review emerging issues during the implementation of programs and projects, and identify improvements in existing strategies/programs/projects.
Main Functions
- To plan, coordinate, control, and formulate budget policies for the development of the security sector.
- To formulate sectoral planning policies and development in the 5-Year Development Plan and Mid-Term Review for the development of the security sector.
- To prepare annual security sector budget estimates for Cabinet and Parliament approval for security development.
- To coordinate development programs and budget reviews for agencies under the security sector.

- We will provide efficient service, assistance, and guidance to Ministries, Agencies, Government Departments, Statutory Bodies, State Governments, and other relevant parties in coordinating and monitoring the studies carried out.
