Background

Objective

The establishment of the Statistics Unit aims to assist the Ministry of Economy in providing reliable, relevant, and timely statistics to help the government in formulating policies and planning economic and social development. It is responsible for acting as a liaison between the Ministry of Economy and the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) regarding data requirements, in line with the data dissemination policy of DOSM.

Main Functions

  • Coordinating and providing relevant and timely statistics for user requirements;
  • Acting as a liaison between the divisions in the Ministry of Economy and the Department of Statistics Malaysia and other data suppliers;
  • Providing technical advice and general statistics usage guidance to the divisions in the Ministry of Economy.
