SIGNING OF THE JS-SEZ JOINT AGREEMENT
January 7, 2025: YB Rafizi Ramli, the Minister of Economy, attended the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat at the Perdana Putra Complex, Putrajaya, which was also attended by the Malaysian Prime Minister during which the exchange ceremony for the JS-SEZ Joint Agreement document, signed on January 6, 2025, was concluded. JS-SEZ represents a unique collaboration, combining Malaysia’s vast land resources and strong industrial base with Singapore’s technological expertise and financial strength. This partnership positions JS-SEZ as a competitive international investment destination. Nine strategic areas in Johor, including Iskandar Puteri, Pasir Gudang, and Pengerang, will be key focuses. These zones offer significant opportunities in sectors like manufacturing, logistics, digital economy, and green energy. The goals of JS-SEZ are clear: to attract high-value investments, create 20,000 skilled jobs, and realize 100 high-impact projects within 10 years. This commitment by Malaysia and Singapore aims to provide a stable and progressive investment environment. This collaboration not only enhances the position of both nations but also increases SouthEast Asia’s global competitiveness. JS-SEZ symbolizes unity, innovation, and a vision for a brighter future.
May this initiative bring substantial benefits to the people of Johor and Malaysia, serving as an inspiration for closer regional cooperation.
